The U.S. Department of Commerce has updated the frequently asked questions section of its website for the EU-U.S. and Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield agreements to cover Brexit’s impact on the frameworks, according to a post from Hunton Andrews Kurth’s Privacy & Information Security Law Blog. The FAQ covers the steps Privacy Shield participants will need to take to receive personal data from the U.K., such as the inclusion of language that states personal information obtained from Britain will be covered under the agreements. Organizations certified under Privacy Shield will have until Dec. 31, 2020, to implement these changes should the U.K. and the European Union reach a withdrawal agreement.
