U.K. Information Commissioner Elizabeth Denham offered an update to the code of practice the Information Commissioner’s Office is developing to protect children’s privacy. After it launched a consultation in April, Denham writes more than 450 written responses were sent to the agency and more than 40 meetings were held with stakeholders. Denham hopes the code will translate requirements found within the EU General Data Protection Regulation into design standards for online services. “The GDPR already sets out rules on how data can be used and the importance of protecting children,” Denham writes. “Our code will make the requirements clearer and help designers and developers understand what is expected of them.” A final version of the code is expected to be sent to the Secretary of State by Nov. 23.
