U.K. Information Commissioner Elizabeth Denham spoke with The Wall Street Journal on a number of hot-button topics in data protection, including consideration for a global privacy standard. "It's time that we stood back and looked at the reality of the 21st century digital economy," Denham said. She added a global privacy accord "wouldn’t be at the level" of the EU General Data Protection Regulation but it "could provide for protection and freer flow of data that’s low-risk." Denham also addressed the need to devise processes to expedite regulator's investigations and enforcement.
