In an interview with GeekWire, U.S. Rep. Suzan DelBene, D-Wash., discussed the need for a federal privacy law and her proposed Information Transparency and Personal Data Control Act. DelBene said she wants her proposed law to address pressing privacy issues, then build upon that foundation before taking on other topics, such as facial recognition and artificial intelligence. DelBene also touched upon the lack of technical knowledge possessed by her colleagues on Capitol Hill and how that has affected progress on federal legislation.
