Delaware’s amended data breach notification law takes effect in April of next year and will require companies to notify Delaware residents of a data breach within 60 days, as well as inform the regulator, Hunton & Williams Privacy & Information Security Law Blog reports. Amendments to the law will also include an expanded definition of “personal information,” require the notification of the Delaware attorney general if a breach affects more than 500 Delaware residents, and require companies to offer free credit monitoring services if the breach includes a resident’s Social Security number.
