The U.K.’s Data Services & Analytics unit holds information on 650 million people, including those under age 13, Wired reports. Part of the Home Office’s Digital, Data and Technology department, the unit holds data on individuals’ ethnicity, nationality, criminal record history, biometrics and more. Privacy advocates accuse the unit of creating a “super database.” Privacy International Advocacy Director Edin Omanovic said, “The potential scope of this secret mass data gathering is truly frightening.”
