Government officials in Kerala have halted the rollout of its new Medical Insurance Scheme for State Employees and Pensioners after discovering a major security vulnerability, HuffPost India reports. The security issue involves possible improper access to the system after the login information for the scheme’s nodal officer was distributed to all health department staff. Anyone with access to the credentials has the ability to view and change the information in the system. "As per my knowledge, no data leakage has occurred so far," software analyst D Arun said. "The scheme is now in its rudimentary stage. The future chances of data misuse are minimal but it must be welcomed that the government responded to the apprehensions quickly. I hope the government can bring about additional security measures to alleviate fears raised by government employees and pensioners."
