Data broker sued over alleged customer privacy violations

A class-action lawsuit was filed in California against data broker Otonomo, Vice reports. The lawsuit alleges Otonomo secretly collected and sold real-time GPS location information from more than 50 million cars worldwide. Otonomo claimed it has systems in place to protect customer privacy, however, an investigation conducted by Vice last year, revealed Otonomo data could be used to identify where customers lived, worked and where else they drove.
