Public records show data broker Veraset shared billions of “highly sensitive” phone location records with Washington, D.C.’s Department of Health as part of COVID-19 tracking efforts, The Washington Post reports. The data, provided as part of a free trial, was authorized for COVID-19 tracking purposes only and did not include names and personal details. The Electronic Frontier Foundation obtained the records through a Freedom of Information Act request and said the data does not appear to have been misused.
