The Financial Times reports the number of data breach notifications sent to the U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office has risen over the course of 2018. From June to August, the ICO received 82 reports about undisclosed breaches. The figure is up from the 31 breach reports sent to the ICO from February to April, most likely due to the implementation of the EU General Data Protection Regulation. “In recent years, data protection has become a major concern not just of government and regulators, but also the general public,” RPC Partner Richard Breavington said. “It is not just disgruntled employees who act as whistleblowers, but genuinely concerned individuals.” (Registration may be required to access this story.)
