Quest Diagnostics confirmed a third-party billing company it uses has been hit by a data breach affecting 11.9 million patients, TechCrunch reports. Quest acknowledged the data breach in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission earlier this week. The incident occurred on the payment pages of the American Medical Collection Agency. Credit card numbers, medical information and personal data were stolen, although Quest said laboratory test results were not included in the theft. The breach took place between Aug. 1, 2018, through May 31, 2019. This is the second breach in three years for the organization. The first breach in 2016 affected 34,000 patients.
