Australia’s House of Representatives introduced the Data Availability and Transparency Bill 2020, a proposal regulating the sharing of public sector data. As stated in the proposal, its objectives are to “serve the public interest by promoting better availability of public sector data.” It seeks to enable “consistent safeguards,” “enhance integrity and transparency,” and “establish institutional arrangements” for sharing public sector data and to build confidence in its use.
