Los Angeles County, California, announced it is partnering with crime app Citizen for its contact-tracing app SafePass, CNET reports. Citizen previously focused its technology on unverified neighborhood crime reports. While Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has urged the county's 10 million residents to download SafePass, privacy advocates fear Citizen's location-tracking practices risk user privacy. Citizen acknowledges privacy isn't guaranteed saying, "While (location data) does not identify you, there are circumstances when a user could identify you based on the location."
