A couple weeks back, Richard Beaumont, who is in charge of developing privacy products and services for software company Governor Technology, argued that, in addition to privacy policies, companies should also feature a “transparency policy” or “transparency statement.” He wrote, “It will be backed up by the legal weight of the privacy policy, of course,” but, he pointed out, “It will be the basis on which the website will set your expectation for how you and your data will be treated.” In this new Privacy Perspectives installment, Beaumont provides the beginnings of a transparency notice prototype.
