As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, countries continue to grapple with contact-tracing apps and their privacy applications. Here is the latest from Europe:

  • BreakingNews.ie reports Northern Ireland is set to launch its COVID-19-tracing app, Stop Covid NI, within the next week. Its use will be voluntary, and the app will not store identifiable information.
  • In an op-ed for the Guardian, Open University Professor John Naughton discusses the U.K.'s shortcomings in rolling out a contact-tracing program.

Editor’s note: The IAPP Resource Center compiled global privacy updates on its COVID-19 Guidance and Resources page.
