COVID-19 has exposed inequality in nearly all aspects of daily life, not only in health care, education or employment, but also the lack of access to technology to protect personal data online. In an opinion piece for Forbes, ExpressVPN Vice President Harold Li wrote, “The digital privacy divide has been laid bare, with greater consequences than ever.” He noted these technologies are “built with inherent biases,” adding as we “become increasingly reliant on technology … protecting our identities and data online has never been more crucial.”
