The U.K. National Health Service COVID-19 smartphone application launched in England and Wales, allowing users to trace contacts, assess risk level and record visits to establishments, Reuters reports. The app launched four months after the government said it would arrive. Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the app involved extensive work with technology companies, privacy experts and others, noting it is “secure” and “simple to use.” Meanwhile, in the U.S., the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s COVID Alert PA app is available for download.
