  • The Council of the European Union published recommendations on encryption moving forward, saying it is important to find a balance between public interests and fundamental rights. “We are determined to balance carefully the interests of protecting privacy, fundamental rights and security of communications through encryption,” while at the same time upholding lawful access for criminal justice purposes, according to the council.
  • Euractiv reports Germany’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union is pushing for new cybersecurity standards for connected devices, saying cybersecurity and privacy “should be ensured throughout a product’s entire life cycle as well and across its supply chain.”
