The South China Morning Post reports personal data collection has accelerated in China to help contain further outbreak of the coronavirus. Collection of personal information, including real-name registrations for medications and public transportation, have helped identify hot spots where the virus is most prevalent. Privacy advocates are bracing for collection to continue post-containment. "We cannot rule out the possibility that more personal data will need to be shared and collected to improve public safety, even when the virus ends. But all (data) collection should be within the rules and regulations," DeHeng Law Offices' Tian Xianjin said.
