  • The U.K. Information Commissioner's Office announced new guidance for businesses mandated to collect customer and visitor information. The ICO offers five steps for handling the personal data properly while noting data collection is not necessary if customers are using a contact-tracing application. 
  • Business Insider South Africa reports South African President Cyril Ramaphosa urged South Africans to use the government's contact-tracing app for COVID-19. The COVID Alert SA app runs Bluetooth technology, meaning anonymized identification codes are used in lieu of names, exact locations and other personal data.
