A Consumer Reports review of videoconferencing privacy policies found services may collect more data than consumers realize. While differences among Webex, Skype, Teams, Meet, Duo and Hangouts policies “aren’t enormous ... from a privacy point of view, none of these options are great,” Privacy Researcher Bill Fitzgerald said. Policies state the platforms can collect videoconference data, combine it with other sources to build consumer profiles and can use videos for other uses, like training facial recognition systems.
