Facebook has fixed what Consumer Reports has called a "privacy bug" that affected ad preferences for iPhone users, according to the consumer advocacy group. Technicians at Consumer Reports found that a screen on Facebook's mobile app for iPhones "could mislead consumers about their ad preferences." The organization concluded the design and language on the screen could "nudge people toward sharing the maximum amount of data with the company." Facebook characterized the issue as a "technical glitch." A Facebook spokeswoman said, "After investigating your report we found a bug, which meant that when some people landed on their 'ad settings' summary page they saw an incorrect status for the control, which enables them to opt out of us using data from third parties to inform the ads they see."
