The Norwegian Consumer Council wrote in a formal complaint to the nation’s consumer ombudsman Thursday that dating app Tinder’s terms and conditions run afoul of both Norwegian and EU privacy laws, Fortune reports. Some of the app’s problems include mishandled data ownership and users’ inability to delete their accounts, according to the NCC. The NCC’s Finn Myrstad said this is the council’s first formal complaint under its awareness-raising “AppFail” campaign, “and the reason we’re doing it is we feel the terms in this service in particular are so bad that we need to take a stand. “If and when authorities bring up larger privacy concerns, we always take them into consideration and, if applicable to our users, take steps to implement any necessary changes,” Tinder said of the allegations.
