Gov. Ned Lamont, D-Conn., signed Senate Bill 6, the Connecticut Data Privacy Act, into law Tuesday after it passed the Connecticut General Assembly April 28. Connecticut's law, the fifth comprehensive state privacy law in the U.S., will take force July 1, 2023. Some of Connecticut's provisions may be easier for companies to comply with given they mirror those found in existing state laws. IAPP Westin Fellow Taylor Kay Lively, CIPP/US, broke down the common threads and nuances that need to be considered with Connecticut's law.
