U.S. Rep. Robert Scott, D-Va., called for an investigation into a Florida school district’s sharing of student data with law enforcement, the Tampa Bay Times reports. The investigation found student grades, attendance and discipline data were shared with the Pasco Sheriff’s Office. Scott said using student records “goes against the letter and the spirit of (the federal student privacy law) and risks subjecting students, especially Black and Latino students, to excessive law enforcement interactions and stigmatization.”
