U.S. Congress is on track to bring back the debate over a facial recognition ban, National Journal reports. The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act passed in the House of Representatives Wednesday, including provisions restricting federal law enforcement's use of facial recognition technologies and preventing the use of the tool on footage collected from body cameras or patrol cars. Rep. Yvette Clarke, D-N.Y., is expected to reintroduce the Facial Recognition and Biometric Technology Moratorium Act, prohibiting the use of facial recognition technology by federal police agencies.
