Comprehensive privacy bill clears New Hampshire Legislature

The New Hampshire Senate concurred by voice vote on House amendments to Senate Bill 255, paving the way for the comprehensive privacy bill to pass the legislature. The bill covers organizations processing data on more than 35,000 state residents or those processing data on more than 10,000 and generating more than 25% revenue from data sales. It includes support for universal opt-out mechanisms, a 60-day cure period that sunsets in 2026 and a narrow rulemaking under the secretary of state. Following enrollment and action by the governor, the bill takes effect 1 Jan. 2025.
