IAPP President and CEO J. Trevor Hughes, CIPP, LinkedIn Head of Global Privacy Kalinda Raina, CIPP/US, and Uber Chief Privacy Officer Ruby Zefo, CIPP/US, CIPM, FIP, told attendees of RSA Conference 2019 they cannot rely on their EU General Data Protection Regulation compliance efforts to guide them through the California Consumer Privacy Act, SC Media reports. “The fact is, CCPA is not GDPR, and it is different. There certainly are things that you probably built for GDPR that will be helpful, but CCPA deserves its own attention,” Hughes said. Zefo said one of the reasons why organizations have not made as much progress on the CCPA as they need to is due to privacy professionals' continued work to interpret the bill's terms and objectives.
