As the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act nears its first anniversary, companies and agencies have considerable work to complete before they become a part of “the communal ‘neighborhood cyber watch’ that the Obama administration has pushed,” Federal News Radio reports. “About 50 agencies, private companies and organizations have joined the Homeland Security Department’s automatic information sharing network,” the report states. The DHS only released joining guidelines for private companies in June, and those groups haven’t had a lot of time to join the DHS system, said the agency’s Andy Ozment. “We knew from the beginning, and we’ve been consistent throughout, saying that we want to grow deliberately, because we knew that we’re doing something new,” he said. DHS is working with business entities, getting feedback and tweaking the program, he added.
