The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s use of facial-recognition technology and other biometrics will be examined during an upcoming committee hearing in Washington. The House Committee on Homeland Security will meet Feb. 6. Witnesses will be Department of Commerce National Institute of Standards and Technology Information Technology Laboratory Director Charles Romine, Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations Deputy Executive Assistant Commissioner John Wagner, and DHS Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Programs and Compliance Deputy Officer Peter Mina.
