Australia’s Parliamentary Joint Committee on Law Enforcement has asked the government to be more transparent regarding plans to allow state and territory law enforcement access to the country’s face-matching service, ZDNet reports. In a report examining the impact of new and emerging information and communication technology, the committee called for safeguards that would protect against data breaches and urged the government to consider its recommendations for future strategies for biometric data and facial-recognition systems.
