President Barack Obama appointed Beth Cobert as director of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), The New York Times reports. Cobert was the OPM’s acting director after Katherine Archuleta resigned in July amidst the agency’s hacking controversy. “Obama says Beth Cobert has already taken steps to boost cybersecurity and improve the way government serves the public,” Newser reports. “He says she'll bring tremendous depth and quality of experience to the role of director.” Cobert’s appointment requires Senate approval before it is made official.
