Luxembourg's National Commission for Data Protection announced the appointment of Alain Herrmann as its new commissioner effective immediately. Herrmann has worked for the CNPD since 2012 and spent 14 years in the private sector in roles related to IT and information security. The CNPD said Herrmann possesses "excellent knowledge of the national, European and international data protection ecosystem." Herrmann takes over as the CNPD ramps up its enforcement efforts, highlighted by the proposal of a record-setting EU General Data Protection Regulation fine against Amazon in July.
