France’s data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés, issued new formal notices to 40 organizations not offering users the ability to refuse cookies as easily as accepting them. The CNIL said it will adopt “new corrective measures against non-compliant bodies” if necessary, giving the organizations notified in this round until Sept. 6 to comply. Among the organizations impacted are six online consumer goods companies, three rental car companies, three companies in the banking sector and two local communities.
