France’s data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés, announced approximately 20 organizations that did not offer users the ability to refuse cookies as easily as accepting them are now in compliance. The CNIL issued a notice to the organizations one month ago and said new measures will now be taken against other noncomplying organizations. “Other formal notices could be issued and several sanctioning procedures have already been launched,” the CNIL statement said.
