A year after its initial release, French data protection authority, the CNIL, has upgraded its privacy impact assessment tool and published a new PIA guide. The initial PIA tool has been downloaded 130,000 times, and the new release includes additional customizability. The CNIL blog post announcing the new release also includes links to a governance description, a contribution guide, a code of conduct, and a road map for future developments for the tool. So far, the CNIL's PIA tool has been translated into 18 languages and received the "Global Privacy and Data Protection Award" during this year's International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners.
