The French data protection authority, the CNIL, has unveiled a register documenting treatment activities for data processing under the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The CNIL's aim with the register is to offer transparency regarding various types of data processing, but it also seeks to properly inform public and private organizations how to interpret processing activities. Along with its register, the CNIL offered guidance on how to select a legal basis for the treatment activities, using specific activities from its register as examples.
