The French data protection authority, the CNIL, published rules regarding data registers compiled by authorities and used to alert people of emergency situations. Authorities are obligated to notify residents of the list and its purpose and must take all precautions to guarantee the data’s accuracy and security. The data “must be collected, stored and used under conditions guaranteeing their integrity, their availability and their confidentiality,” the CNIL wrote. (Original post is in French.)
