CNIL publishes guidance on nursing home surveillance

France's data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés, published guidance on nursing home surveillance following concerns that a lack of security cameras in residents' bedrooms could lead to elder abuse. The CNIL said, in order to ensure that personal privacy is prioritized, surveillance cameras can only be used in bedrooms after an incident occurs and an investigation shows mistreatment.
