France's data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés, launched a public consultation on economic issues associated with data collection and processing by mobile applications. The CNIL said its objective "is to make data flows visible and strengthen the compliance of mobile applications and their ecosystems, to better protect the privacy of users." It added the approach "should make it possible to measure the potential impact of the CNIL's regulatory choices on French, European and international players, particularly on the aspects of competition and innovation."
