TechCrunch reports a spokeswoman for the French data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés, confirmed the regulator has been actively investigating a complaint against TikTok since May. The complaint initially originated from a deletion request, but the CNIL has since expanded its examination to include children's privacy practices, transparency requirements, data access rights and data transfers outside the EU. France joins the U.S. and Australia as countries with confirmed active investigations.
