France's data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés, wrote about the country's prohibition on recreational genetic testing based on privacy risk. The agency warned such tests can only be carried out in limited circumstances; any purchases outside of those circumstances could result in a fine and prison time.
