Alberta Privacy Commissioner Jill Clayton has launched an investigation into Calgary Police Service’s facial recognition software and body-worn cameras “after concerns over privacy and questions of being compliant with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act,” Metro reports. Clayton said, “I have questions regarding how CPS is implementing these technologies, and specifically what steps have been taken to ensure privacy and security risks have been identified and addressed.” Meanwhile, CBC News reports on a case where an image caught in Google Street View resulted in damages and The Toronto Star reports on a lawsuit involving a patient suing a hospital and a media company, actor and producer for invasion of privacy.
