The Court of Justice of the European Union ruled YouTube does not have to turn over the information of those who illegally upload movies to its platform, Reuters reports. German film distributor Constantin Film Verleih sought the email and IP addresses of individuals who performed the act between 2013 and 2014. The CJEU called for a balance between privacy and copyright in its ruling. Meanwhile, the CJEU also ruled Germany's Petitions Committee is subject to the EU General Data Protection Regulation in a data access case.
