The New York Times reports the Court of Justice of the European Union decided Hungary's law on restricting funding for non-governmental organizations is unlawful. The CJEU said Hungary's law "introduced discriminatory and unjustified restrictions" that hampered the fundamental rights of citizens, including the right to protection of personal information. The decision follows concerns from the European Data Protection Board regarding Hungary's move to pause EU General Data Protection Regulation rights and protections amid COVID-19.
