Court of Justice of the European Union Advocate General Henrik Saugmandsgaard Øe is expected to deliver his nonbinding opinion on the Schrems II case Dec. 19, Reuters reports. The opinion will cover whether standard contractual clauses are valid and will impact the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield agreement. "They underpin some of the most significant business operations, including outsourced services, cloud infrastructure, data hosting, HR management, payroll, finance, and marketing," Bristows Senior Associate Jamie Drucker said. The CJEU is expected to rule on the case in upcoming months following the release of the opinion.
