Hunton Andrews Kurth's Centre for Information Policy Leadership published a white paper outlining key privacy lessons related to COVID-19 that can be put toward a U.S. privacy framework. CIPL offered seven points, including considerations for the importance of essential data collection and the responsible use of artificial intelligence, as well as potentially abandoning the traditional interpretation of data protection. Additionally, CIPL recommended that a privacy law focus more on the data activities that occur after collection rather than the collection itself.
