The South China Morning Post reports messaging platform WeChat has begun updating its data privacy controls, particularly those on third-party apps. WeChat has dialed back third-party data-collection rights on a small group of developers while requiring more transparency about the types of information being collected. "Protecting the privacy of users has always been our bottom line," WeChat said in a statement following revelations of app developers abusing previous privacy rules. "We hope to work with all service providers to bring users a safe and good experience."
