Forbes reports the Chinese government announced a global data security initiative that includes practices and standards that address the proper handling of personal data and surveillance. The security plan aims to weed out unlawful foreign surveillance efforts that may hamper critical infrastructure or result in stolen data. While announcing the plan, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China opposes efforts to "conduct mass surveillance against other States or engage in unauthorized collection of personal information of other States."
