China’s National People’s Congress Standing Committee passed a data security law to strengthen control over digital information, Bloomberg reports. While the text of the legislation has not yet been released, guidelines on storing and handling data as well as tracking and reporting requirements for companies handling data are expected. A previous draft urged national security reviews of data handling and included creating a system for data and risk assessment.
